A Week in Savannah on a $35,000 Salary

Published

on

Savannah

Welcome to Spending Notes, where we do a weekly deep dive into how our readers spend their cash.

Today, a cashier who makes $35,000 a year in Savannah, Georgia, U.S., lets us into her week’s expenses.

Occupation: Cashier

Age: 20

Location: Savannah, Georgia, U.S.

Salary: $35,000 (approx. $1,200 per pay period)

Day One

As a cashier, you can meet many different people. Some of those people are my best customers; others, not so much. But today, I met a pretty cool guy, T., who enjoys paranormal activities and discovering Savannah’s dark side and haunted history. T. just told me how he went on a ghost tour in Savannah, Georgia, last week and how he loved it. He recommends I go with a friend because the spooky tour and apparitions can get real creepy at night but in a fun way. So I’m calling them today to see if they have openings for a walking tour this weekend. Monday wasn’t so bad after all.

Total: $0.00

Day Two

img

I have Tuesdays off, so I usually do some self-care and seek FDA-approved private label supplements. My doctor told me I was a bit deficient in iron, so I bought some supplements online. I searched for online pharmacies and managed to find one that accepts my health insurance and has a new brand in their inventory for nutritional supplements like probiotics, protein powders, and other health products. Their packaging and ingredients are cruelty-free, and they have discounts for newcomers. I paid a fair price, and now I’m heading to the park to take in some fresh air and sunshine.

Total: $7.34

Day Three

img

It’s already after work and I’m headed home to cook rice and chicken for the rest of the week. I’m buying a couple of spices and herbs at my favorite grocery shop to give a different flavor to my chicken each day. I got spices and herbs like lemon and garlic, basil, and paprika. I can’t wait to cook tonight. I just received my supplements, and their custom branding is beyond my expectations.

Total: $13.22

Day Four

img

Today, I’m looking forward to going to my favorite coffee shop downtown with my best friend, A. She just called me saying she’s at the shop, and I’m on my way there now. I’m finally at the coffee shop with A. and we’re here catching up about what we did last week. Thursdays are for us to vent and make plans for the weekend.

Total: $11.54

Day Five

img

It’s finally Friday and I’m taking my puppy to the vet because he seems a bit low on energy and hasn’t wanted to eat anything since last night, not even his tasty pet supplements as the vet suggested. The vet did some tests and said everything was fine. He may have played too much at the park yesterday. I bought him a new toy, and he loves it. He already seems happier now and even munched on a couple of treats.

Total: $55.44

Day Six

img

It’s Saturday and I got out of work early. After spending the day gaming at home, I met with A. at the art museum. We took the time to go into the background of the paintings we saw. We love the history of it all and enjoy doing these types of things. I have, like, three notebooks with notes from different museums—I could make my own museum with those notebooks.

Total: $12.43

Day Seven

img

Sunday’s here and it’s exclusively for gaming. I love gaming: It just calms me so much. I recently bought a simulation game, but they released an expansion pack for it, so I just had to go for it. I’m currently playing that expansion, and it’s just too good to sleep. I ran out of food and ordered some cheap sushi and received it at my door. It’s so yummy, and I can’t wait to order some again next time—I never get tired of sushi.

Total: $23.12

Total for the week: $123.09

7 Reasons why you need an RV for your road trip

Published

on

There are a lot of benefits that an RV can add to your next road trip that you might not have thought of. The role of community and reduced environmental impact are part of what appeals to some, while others enjoy the added freedom that comes with the luxury of having everything they need in one place. For more information, check out https://camperguide.org/camper-van-with-bathroom/. These are some reasons why you need an RV for your road trip, and what it can add for you and your family’s vacation experience. Whether you want to invest in an RV, or are considering renting one for a weekend, these are some great benefits that an RV can bring.

Save Money

It’s a lot easier to save money and stay on budget when you use an RV because it often allows you to pay less at a campsite if you don’t need electricity or water. As long as you are mindful about where you spend money, it can offer a unique way of living and vacation that is much cheaper than some other options. Avoid commercial campsites or luxury features within an RV, as this is often where the money goes. In addition to this, make sure to get creative with food, snacks, and entertainment, especially if you have kids. Try to avoid amusement parks or overly commercialized environments and show them how to have fun in other ways, like riding bikes or with card games.

Easier to be Spontaneous

With an RV, it is much easier to get up and go whenever you want because everything you might need is in one place. Added factors include the fact that there is no need for booking a campsite ahead of time, or really for booking anything. You can pack yourself and your family into an RV on any free weekend and hit the road. There is much less of a pressing need to plan, and it can be refreshing to be spontaneous.

Convenience

Bathrooms are an important part of road trips, especially with kids. That is why an RV can be a godsend because the majority include full bathrooms that are easy to use and highly convenient. Not to mention the added storage that RVs offer. Most have a complete kitchen with refrigerators and small pantries. This means that it’s easier than ever to grab your children’s favorite snacks and keep them happy.

Total Flexibility and Freedom

We’ve covered the excitement to get up and go at any time, but it’s thanks to the flexibility and freedom that it’s achievable. Because there is less of a pressing need to stop at a designated campsite, RV users enjoy being able to stop wherever they want to and set up camp. There is definitely an added sense of freedom that comes from road tripping with an RV.

More Time Together

Not having to worry about minor issues like bathroom stops, or snack breaks means that you get to spend more time bonding with your family. There is less stress traveling on the road in an RV as it has everything you need. Convenience is at the heart of their design, which is why it allows you peace of mind and the headspace to focus on what really matters. Spending quality time with your partner and children or loved ones is highly beneficial for your mental health and overall wellbeing.

Comfort

Another benefit of RV travel that is unmatched by any other form of travel is the comfort. Access to a full bed is something that is a priority to many people when looking for a recreational vehicle. Plenty of storage allows everyone to keep happy, as children can store all of their toys and other articles, as well as allowing you peace of mind.

Community

A unique part about RV travel is the other people within the community that you will meet. Obviously at a campsite it’s likely that you’ll be set up with other RV owners, but even on the road there is an interesting bond between RV drivers who always go out of their way to wave at each other. In addition to this, there is always someone to ask for help if your vehicle malfunctions because it is likely that a member of the community will have experienced a similar issue in the past.

To summarize, an RV can be a perfect home away from home and bring all the comforts and conveniences of modern life. This offers a unique combination of peace of mind and flexibility when traveling on the road. Let’s not forget the role of other like-minded people. Investing in an RV can open all kinds of doors for you and your family. Not to mention the friendships that can be made.
