Spotify adds a What’s New feed on iOS and Android, showing continually updating new releases from followed artists, rolling out over the coming weeks (Spotify What Androidbonifacicengadget)

Spotify What Androidbonifacicengadget: With the latest updates, you can stay on top of your favorite artist’s new releases and listen to them before they hit the spotify’s New Releases playlist.

News of these updates may be music to some ears as Spotify is adding a What’s New feed that will show continually updating new releases from followed artists and rolling out over the next few weeks. This feature is currently available on desktop, while all users will see it on their Android and iPhone apps in the coming weeks.

The new What’s New feed includes two sections: ‘New Releases’ and a ‘Hottest Releases’ section. The former is a constantly-updated collection of albums, playlists and tracks from artists you follow that were added to the streaming service within the past few days, while Hottest Releases are simply a selection of the most popular releases among your followed acts. Users will be able to select songs and albums they want to listen to at any time, pinned to a Now Playing screen within Spotify’s app.

Spotify says all new releases will be added to the new feed automatically, meaning users won’t need to follow individual artists to get the latest updates. The feature is rolling out today for Android and iOS users; desktop users will receive it in the coming weeks.

Spotify’s New Releases updates continue Spotify’s efforts to be more of a curated service than one that simply relies on algorithms to deliver user-tailored content. The company is perhaps best known for allowing users to manually add their own music, and was among the first streaming services to offer its own playlists. It’s also been in the news recently for releasing its first album of original content: Adele’s 25, which became the most-streamed album of 2016 with over 10 billion plays.

Not everyone is a fan of Spotify’s curated approach, which is seen by some as an attempt to mimic traditional radio, but it’s also responsible for helping the service tap into subscribers’ desire for new music. According to a recent survey conducted by MusicWatch, 41 percent of all on-demand audio listeners in the US were introduced to songs through playlists and recommendations.

Spotify’s latest update is available on Android and iOS. Desktop users who want to check it out can do so by heading over to the blog post announcing the new What’s New feed.
