The key to a successful YouTube video depends not only on the content, but also on its proper promotion. The video host has simple but important tools to help push your viewers to a targeted action, such as watching other videos or subscribing to your channel.
We’ll make a final splash screen with buttons as an example – the screenshots will illustrate it. The tooltips are created on the same principle. To make it easier for you to understand the tooltips, we are going to specify the nuances for the cues in brackets.
Go to your channel on YouTube and upload the desired videos. Then click your avatar in the upper right corner of the screen and select “Creative Studio” from the drop-down list.
Find the video we want to add buttons to, click on the arrow to the right of the “Edit” button and select “End Caption and Annotations” (you choose the “Prompts” item – it’s next on the list).
If Creative Studio looks different on your screen, you can switch to the classic look like we have in the screenshots – in the lower left corner click on the “Classic interface” menu bar. To engage in promotion on their own is often difficult, so you can resort to the service lowcostsmm link https://lowcostsmm.com.
In the Player window you will see a grid and a timeline for the final screensaver – the gray part of the time line (there are no restrictions – you can add them to any frame, the grid will not be displayed).
Cues have no limitations – they can be added to any frame, the grid will not be displayed.
The first method of adding a final screensaver is also suitable for tooltips. The other two ways are for screensavers only.
The “Add Item” menu (“Add Cue”) is located to the right of the video. When you click on it, a list of items you can add: a video or playlist, a channel, a subscription (poll), a link. Link can be added only if you are a member of an affiliate program YouTube.
Choose “Video or Playlist” and click “Create”. In the window that pops up, click on the bottom item “Selected” to add a link to a specific video and click “Create” again (cues have no such step). In the next window select the desired video or paste a link to it in a special field, click “Save” (cues are displayed while viewing the video and they do not have a preview, so as not to overlap the main image, so add the information in the “Message” and “teaser text” – 30 characters maximum).
In the player window will appear added elements that can be freely moved around the area marked with a border of blue (you can not change the location of the cues – they will appear in the upper right corner of the player; instead, you should set the time points when this or that cue will appear – drag the sliders on the time line to the desired location, without overlapping).
This and the following method are only suitable for the design of the final screensaver. Click “Use Template” in the menu above the video and choose the right one. The site will automatically apply it to your video. Double-click the left mouse button on the black rectangle that appears on the screen and specify the clip that should be displayed on the screensaver.
And the last method is for those who have already created a final screensaver before. Click on “Import from Video” and then select a video from your list of clips or provide a link to the clip.
Don’t forget about the “Preview” switch on the left above the video – it lets you evaluate the screensaver without closing the editing window (there’s no such option for tooltips, because you can preview the video right during labeling).
Don’t forget to press the “Save” button for all the changes to take effect (there is no such button in the cues placement mode, they are saved automatically).
Check the clip for active buttons outside the creative studio.
And wait for an influx of subscribers and views under the videos. What we wish you.
The description of a YouTube video is the text located right below the video. You’ve probably come across similar information many times when watching a particular video, but you haven’t read it. Well, now that you have created your channel, it’s time to learn the basics of promotion.
Video descriptions are used by everyone – from millionaire video bloggers to beginners. The thing is that the description of the video on YouTube is not a banal set of words but a well-thought-out text that people need in order to find the videos they need. If, say, a user is looking for a smartphone review, it is likely that the first videos on the video hosting search results page will be videos with a detailed text description. In other words, the description of the video on YouTube is no less important than a successful title.
Writing a video description isn’t difficult at all. Today, we’re going to explain how to do it. Sit back and get ready to take notes.
Before you make your own description, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with other people’s descriptions. To see examples of descriptions, just select any popular video and open the text below it. You don’t need to look for anything on purpose: we decided to make your job easier and give you a couple of examples.
Consider these two examples of text descriptions. The first video was posted on a channel dedicated to one of the most popular TV shows in Russia. The second was on the channel of a popular video blog. Therefore, it is logical to assume that the descriptions under them were not written by random people and were made by all the rules of promotion on YouTube. Look at the screenshots, try to understand for yourself what was done well and what was done poorly in these examples. Pay attention to the details. Next, we’ll analyze in detail each element of the description under the video on YouTube and learn how to properly compose it.
Let’s take a look at the description under the video blogger TheKateClapp, who has more than 6 million subscribers.
1. Summary of content.
From the title of the video it’s not always clear what it’s going to be about. So start the text description with a brief preview of the video. Tell the viewer what he is about to watch. It is not necessary to describe each episode in detail – 2-5 sentences are enough.
In the example above, the blogger competently prepared the announcement. She announced what would be in the video, while not going into unnecessary details. Because of this, the video can interest not only fans, but also casual viewers. Suddenly, someone is going to go to Paris and wants to hear a tourist’s opinion? Well, someone who is not impressed by the description will simply close the page, and will not waste time watching it. 2. Keywords.
The more you add to the description of the keywords, the higher the chance that you will be often found in searches. To find popular queries, use Yandex.Wordstat or Google AdWords Keyword Planner. The resulting keywords can be added to tags or made into a separate list, or they can be beautifully woven into your summary. This will look elegant and unobtrusive.
Pay attention to the text in the screenshot. It already has a number of words you can use to find the video. They are “vlog,” “lipstick,” “Kylie Jenner photographer,” “museums,” “travel,” “Paris,” and “Toronto.” Imagine how many people type those queries into a search every day.
3. Promotional links.
When you promote your channel, you’ll be ordered advertising, and you’ll need to add links to the promoted product in the description below the video. With this, the viewer can immediately go to the right place, see the range and make a purchase.
In the screenshot we see links to two sites. At the first one, the blogger offers his own merchandise. The second leads to a site where you can order cosmetics. Notice that the address is preceded by the name of the company. If Kate Clapp had just written “My cosmetics bag,” the effect would have been completely different.
4. Links to your own resources.
Don’t forget to promote yourself. Add links to your Instagram account, VKontakte group, Telegram channel, WhatsApp to communicate with clients and so on.
Add links in the description under each video, regardless of its content. Don’t be afraid that they will distract viewers from the content of the video. A neat list, like the one in the screenshot, is completely unobtrusive.
5. Hashtags.
The attached screenshot doesn’t have a list of hashtags, but they are sometimes added at the very bottom of the description. This is to make it even easier for people to find the video.
We recommend adding no more than 5-10 hashtags in the description, of the most popular keywords. Also, you can do some of the words in the description hashtags.
In the output we get a template description:
How to add or change the description to a video
So, you’ve uploaded your video to YouTube and made up a description – now you need to add it below the desired video. It’s better to do it when posting your video, but you can also change the description of an already uploaded video. To do this, follow the algorithm:
As you can see, there’s nothing complicated about making a video description on YouTube. You don’t need to be a genius marketer, author of selling texts or a cool blogger. It’s enough to know what your video will be about and try to convey its meaning as if you were telling your friends about it.
