IES Exam: The Union Public Service Commission conducts the IES exam annually to recruit eligible and suitable candidates for the various departments serving under the Government of India. The Engineering Services Examination is held for four engineering branches namely:

After getting selected for the IES officer post, the employee will receive Rs. 55,000 approximately as the in-hand salary and additional allowances. The entry-level salary of an IES Officer will be according to the 7th Pay Commission. They will get the salary as per the city they are posted in. UPSC IES Career Growth and Promotion

• In the beginning, the candidates are appointed for the Assistant Executive Engineer/Assistant Director post.
• They need to work for 3 to 4 years to get a promotion to higher posts i.e Executive Engineer or Director.
• After serving for 13 years, they will be promoted to Joint General Manager or Chief Engineer (Level 2) post.
• Once they have successfully completed 20 years of service, they will be appointed as the Additional General Manager/Chief Engineer.
• After gaining 30 years of experience, they will be promoted to the Senior General Manager post. After 34 years of experience, the candidates will be finally promoted to the Managing Director/ Chairperson post of the notified governmental organization.
