All About Upsolver Sql Serieswiggersventurebeat

Upsolver Sql Serieswiggersventurebeat – Upsolver, which offers low-code SQL tools for cloud data analytics, has closed a $25 million Series B led by Sequoia. The company also revealed that it’s gearing up for the launch of Upsolver for Developers, a free “low-code” SQL IDE for coding in the Upsolver UI. In 2019, Upsolver saw triple its revenue to date, up from $4.5 million in 2017 to $14.2 million in 2019. The company says that the figure is more than four times its $3 million Series A revenue in 2018.

Windows Azure, the Microsoft cloud computing platform that competes with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, is also working with Upsolver to build out SQL-based analytics tools for its partners.

As part of the funding announcement, Upsolver also disclosed new customers including AdRoll and Square. Sequoia partner Anjney Midha will now join Upsolver’s board of directors as well.

Upsolver CEO and co-founder Susan Harkins told VentureBeat that the company has grown significantly in the past year, but said that have been hitting some bumps along the way. She said that Upsolver will be opening a smaller, more team-oriented office in San Francisco to help with product development and customer support.

As part of its Series B announcement, Upsolver is also disclosing that it plans to launch a free version of its product for smaller businesses or teams. It will allow for limited database size — 7 GB maximum — and will be free for “hobbyists” or small companies and teams with no revenue.

Upsolver customers include companies like T-Mobile, Bloomberg, LendingClub, Fandango, and more. According to Upsolver’s website, it also has partnerships with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Posse Foundation (Identity as a Service), Salesforce Einstein Vision API (for computer vision), and other partners.

Upsolver’s core product is Upsolver for Developers, a “low-code” visual SQL editor. Upsolver provides its customers SQL query building and editing tools, as well as data visualization. Upsolver’s data visualization comes in the form of a dashboard widget that can be embedded into websites or portals, and can be repurposed and reused to visualize different data sets.

“The analytic market is in desperate need for an all-in-one solution that doesn’t require programming,” Harkins said in a statement. “Databases have been around for decades but have been used by a few experts in a very different time. We are working to change that and bring analytics to the masses.”

Upsolver employs over 50 people, and is based in Menlo Park, California.

The company is also announcing that it has surpassed its $14 million Series A round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with the addition of Sequoia’$25 million Series B close. Upsolver’s Series A funding was announced in 2017.

This year, Upsolver also moved into the cloud native analytics space when it launched Upsolver for Databases. The tool is a high-performance relational database engine with online transactional processing (OLTP), real-time data ingestion, and in-memory analytics that is delivered via a fully managed cloud service. It provides operational intelligence for SQL databases and applications used by IT operations teams to monitor, measure, and audit their cloud deployed databases to ensure optimal performance.

“We’re focused on making users productive through the ease of use of our platform, which allows us to add new features and functionality on a daily basis,” Harkins said. “We now have over 300 features and are continuing to double down our efforts on adding functionality.”
