Typography Collage – Making it Personal

The concept of typography collage was developed in the 1970’s by American Artist Mark Wigley. This concept is about combining two types of art – textile art and computer art – to form a positive space. In this case, we are talking about a type of art that would fill a large empty space. It acts as a vehicle to carry a message to an audience. The message would be displayed on one side of the collage while the image or text on the other.

The text or images can appear above the fold of the sheet of paper. Over here, you can add a color to complement the space. In making a typography collage, you might also want to choose colors that are in contrast with one another. This can make the text look sharper and give it a better impact. A bright orange and a dark blue would be a nice combination.
