My first ever trek to Prashar Lake Trek with Thrillophilia

Being a huge Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (movie) fan automatically makes you want to trek around the world. And I happen to be a huge adventure junkie. But I had never been on a trek and seeing my friends going on various treks only increased my FOMO. So, I decided to go out and about and experience that amazing trek after all. Being a beginner, I had my doubts about going on long difficult treks but at the same time, I wanted it to be one of the best and most thrilling adventures of my life. All thanks to Thrillophilia reviews on Tripadvisor , it helped me find the perfect spot. So, 15 friends of mine decided to go on a trek to the divine Lake Parashar.

Lake Parashar is located in the Dhauladhar range of Kullu Valley in Himachal. It is a two days very budget-friendly trip and is a 9km trek. We took the Delhi to Mandi route. From mandi we booked a cab to a small village Baggi that is 1.5 hours away from mandi. We started our trek from Baggi village, where we had a very delicious Maggi (hill station Maggi, of course) for breakfast and got our lunch packed. We went there in winters so there was ankle-high snow with a temperature of about 5-10℃ in the morning and around -5℃ at night. The entire route was covered in snow and looked heavenly. We camped at night, a dome-shaped camp, where we put up a bonfire and played rounds of antakshari and other games. Food was cooked at the campsite with everybody’s help. The next day we left for the lake. The sight was everything it promised for, picturesque scenery, dramatic in every good way possible. The lake was completely frozen, reflecting the blue sky, and the mini floating island in the lake was covered in snow. With the panoramic view of the majestic snow-covered Himalayas reflecting the sun rays, the frozen blue lake must be what heaven looks like. In the midst of the oh-so-beautiful nature, there is a pagoda-style temple in the honor of Rishi Parashar. The temple is very beautiful and depicts the beautiful Himachali architecture.

There are certain mysteries to the lake. The island in the lake keeps floating and changes its position throughout the year. The depth of the lake is still unknown. Several people have tried to measure the depth but failed. The temple priests have created boundaries around the lake since early 2000.

How to reach Prashar Lake?

Prashar Lake can be reached through two points, Kullu and Mandi. The trek starts from Baggi village. You can reach Baggi village from either Kullu or Mandi. And you can reach Mandi and Kullu from Delhi. It takes the same time to reach Baggi from Mandi and Kullu.

Best time to visit Prashar Lake

Prashar Lake can be visited throughout the year. It remains frozen and covered in snow in the months of January and February. The people who want a winter trek can always trek in these months and behold the sheer beauty of snow-covered mountains and forests. In winters you might even witness the wildlife there, like bears and deer. During other times of the year, the trail and the lake are surrounded by lush greenery. It is comparatively easier to trek when there is no snow. Prashar is serene and sublime at any point of the year and it should be visited twice, once in winters to witness the frozen lake and in summers to experience the pleasant temperature and the green, peaceful nature.

The trek to Prashar Lake was the best trip of my life. One of the best weekend escapades in the laps of nature. And thanks to Thrillophilia reviews on Trustpilot, we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at our camp at the cheapest rate possible. The Thrillophilia reviews were all proven to be genuine and helped us in many ways. Our itinerary was very well planned and the execution was on point. Thank you, Thrillophilia, for being the best travel guide and giving me the best trekking experience of my life!
