Micro ATX Vs Mini ITX: A Difference

The first thing to consider when choosing a motherboard is its compatibility with the size of the “PC case”. If there is not enough space inside the PC case, you cannot install the motherboard. There are three sizes of PC cases, and we are going to compare two of them: Micro ATX Vs Mini ITX

Micro-ATX:-

Micro-ATX motherboards are often used. Compared to ATX, the number of parts that can be attached is smaller, but in terms of price, it is often cheaper than ATX, The cost performance is high standard.

Size:-

The board size is 244 x 244 mm (9.6 inches x 9.6 inches) square. A standard that is a little smaller than ATX, even if it is made by a manufacturer, it is a space-saving personal computer (slim tower type).

In addition, it is ideal for building a space-saving personal computer, and you can make a small personal computer. It is recommended for those who are in trouble with where to put their computer. It has up to 4 expansion slots and 2-4 memory slots. Micro-ATX is recommended when building an ordinary personal computer without being so particular about performance.

Mini-ITX:-

Size:-

The board size is 170 x 170 mm (6.7 inches x 6.7 inches) square. The base size of the motherboard is very small and compact. The board area is astonishingly small, about 1 / 2.5 of the ATX standard motherboard. You can enjoy your own PC in a case that is even smaller than the case size of a general desktop PC. Therefore, you can make your own small machine that does not look like a PC at first glance.

In other words, it is ideal for making ultra-small PCs that can be installed in a small space. However, because the board size is small, there are parts that can be mounted on the motherboard. Compared to other ATX and Micro-ATX, it is considerably less and has the disadvantage of low expandability.

Price:-

It seems that it costs money because it is downsized, and the price is high and the cost performance is bad. However, recent Mini-ITX has fewer restrictions on parts, and also as the number of products equipped with expansion slots such as PCI Express x16 has increased. It has a lot more freedom than the previous one.

Self-made using a Mini-ITX motherboard and a small case is gaining popularity as a sub-computer application. It seems to be popular among women because of the merit of being able to make an ultra-small computer (it looks cute).

There is basically one expansion slot and one or two memory slots. It’s a standard that is often used when making small personal computers.

Final Verdicts:-

Micro ATX and Mini ITX can basically be used in cases of any size. However, please note that depending on the case, there are some mini towers that can only accommodate Mini ITX, and some cubes that do not contain Micro ATX. Check the specifications of the case in advance.
