Last-Minute Revision Tips For Board Exams

The days before Class 10th and 12th board exams are very critical as well as stressful for students. A month before exams, lakhs of students are worried and tense about their revision and preparation level. One of the biggest fears that these students usually face is whether they can remember everything they have learnt to date.

The preparation time before the board exams are beneficial for Class 10th and 12th students. During this period, students must focus on what they have studied till now. And try to put some extra effort into their preparation. To prepare well for exams during the last months, the first thing that students need to do is change their current study plan and make necessary improvements. They must make a timetable in such a way so that they can get used to it prior to exams.

In this article, we’ll be discussing some useful last-minute tips for preparing for board exams so you can score a decent percentage.

  1. Know How Much Syllabus You Need to Cover

When you are preparing for board exams, you must know how much CBSE Board Syllabus you have to cover. Your textbook may contain some extra information that is good to enhance your knowledge but it is not necessary from an exam point of view. Instead, it might confuse you. And all your concepts will get mixed. You should stick to the syllabus especially, a few weeks before exams. This will help you to know the important chapters of the syllabus as well as the type of questions asked in the question paper. You don’t need to stress out yourself to complete an additional syllabus.

  1. Detect The Exam Question Paper Pattern

The CBSE question paper of Class 10 and 12 is well-constructed and has a specific pattern that repeats almost every year. Each question in the question paper tests your concepts. The faster you’ll recognize the pattern of the questions, the better you’ll be able to perform as you’ll develop the skill of predicting the question paper. For this, you can solve the past 10 years’ question papers.

3. Predict Concepts And Questions

This phase usually occurs 3 or 4 days before the examination. Go through the past 10 years of question papers thoroughly to know the most frequently asked questions or concepts. While solving these papers, you will discover that questions are repeated year after year. At the same time, you’ll also see a few concepts asked many times in the board examination. This trick can help you to predict 70 to 80% of the question paper.

4. Follow The Examiner’s Tips

If you search for the board question papers or sample papers on the internet, in the search results, you’ll see that there are question papers that contain the examiner’s suggestions and comments. So, just go through these suggestions clearly and try to know what the examiner is trying to explain. This enables you to know where the examiner can deduct your marks or what are the common silly mistakes that you should avoid. While reading the question in the question paper, you may feel that you know the correct method of solving that particular question and can score full marks but, when you look at the examiner’s comments, you’ll notice that you were missing some points. So, analyzing the examiner’s comments properly will prevent you from losing marks unnecessarily.

5. Use Your Extra Time Wisely

Many times situations occur when you get 5 to 10 days preparation time for preparing yourself for the next exam. Usually, students study 3 to 4 days before the exam and waste their rest 6 days. Due to this, they forget things and are unable to remember most concepts. Hence, they have to read the entire syllabus again in those three or four days. So instead of wasting those 6 days, try to study that subject at least once. In the last 3 or 4 days, the only thing you need to do is revise your learnt concepts. In this way, you’ll prevent yourself from the extra burden and can focus on your studies.

6. Learn from Your Mistakes

Now, this point makes you learn from the mistakes which you have made in your school answer sheets. Whenever you receive your test scripts, simply go through your answers and identify your errors. If you are one of those students who make lots of mistakes, then this tip might be advantageous to you. Make a list of common recurring errors so you can check your final board answer script and make sure that you didn’t make any of those listed mistakes.

7. Avoid Access Use of Social Media

This point can act as a barrier between you and your dream of getting top rank in the board exams. These days, many people, especially students, are so influenced by it that they spend most of their time entertaining themselves. So, during exam times, limit your social media use and concentrate on your studies.

8. Sleep and Wake Early

If you don’t want to compromise on your health, then sleep early and wake early in the morning. Sleep for at least 7 hours a day to keep yourself fresh and energetic all day. This will enable you to study with a fresh mind the next morning. A fresh brain will help you to focus on your studies and capture things easily.

9. Don’t Study Too Much at The Last Minute

Keep your mind free from extra stuff. Don’t frustrate your brain with too much study at the last minute. This won’t help you to fetch more marks. Instead, it will have a negative impact on your performance. Take small breaks of 5 to 10 minutes in between your study session of 45 to 50 minutes to resist fatigue. During your break, eat some healthy snacks to satisfy your hunger. Also, you should avoid studying an hour before going to bed. Meanwhile, just close your eyes, relax your mind and take deep breaths to calm yourself.

Hopefully, these last-minute tips will enable you to achieve a good percentage in the upcoming board exams.
