Is Micro Needling Grieshaber Treatment Good For Acne Scars?

Putting up with acne can be miserable, but once you’ve got it under control, another issue arises – scarring. I’ve long had acne and so, I wondered whether micro needling Grieshaber treatment I’d heard about was effective against it.

Anyone suffering with this troublesome skin condition will tell you that acne scarring can be there forever or many months at the very least.

There are a ton of products available over the counter, but in my experience, they never quite deliver, so the question is – does microneedling work?

How Does Microneedling Work Its Magic?

You might think that sticking needles through acne-scarred skin would be the last thing you should be doing, but it’s actually quite effective. That’s because when these fine needles penetrate through, they cause collagen to be produced in an attempt to heal what the body sees as a wound. 

Now that I’ve done quite a bit of research into micro needling Grieshaber treatment, I’ve learnt that it’s not just great for acne scars, but also a range of other scarring issues relating to burns, sun damage, stretch marks and melasma.

Depressed Acne Scars Are More Suitable

I’ve also discovered that the type of acne scars you have will have a big bearing on the efficacy of micro needling too. I’m lucky that most of my scars are the depressed type, rather than the raised variety, as it’s the depressed kind that it works best for.

Why’s that? It’s because when you’ve raised scars, it shows that there’s already collagen in the area, meaning that adding more into the equation is going to make them more pronounced instead of getting rid of them. 

Darker Skin Can Also Benefit

There are some scar treatments out there that are deemed to be too severe for darker skin tones, such as lasering, but micro needling isn’t one of them. The problem is that laser treatment can damage the skin too much, whereas micro needling Grieshaber procedures are far less invasive.

This is due to the fact that the tiny needles only penetrate through the very upper layers of the skin and it’s so gentle that it’s also ideal for those with other types of sensitive skin problems. 

Are There Any Associated Issues?

Well, no. At least nothing that would put me off having it carried out again. You’ve got to expect a certain amount of tenderness and pain afterwards. After all, you are penetrating the skin with needles! 

I’ve seen accounts of people having inflammation and bruising afterwards too, but the consensus is that this always improves within a couple of days. 

There are some things you can do to help your skin recover more quickly from your micro needling Grieshaber session too. Staying away from exfoliants, direct sunlight and alcohol-based products is advised for good reason, as you don’t want to stress your skin when it’s already been stressed by the treatment.

I’d Recommend It to Anyone With Acne Scars

When all is said and done, I’ve seen and used plenty of treatments and products to deal with my acne scarring and so I can say without too much risk being contradicted that it’s great for allowing people like me to love their skin again. 

It’s not painful, produces the results that it claims to and recovery is almost instantaneous. So, it’s hard to argue against it really.

Even if you’ve got a phobia of needles don’t be put off, as it’s nothing like having any other kind of needle. In fact, you might not even notice that the treatment has started.
