Methods to display embroidery:
Among well-known methods to display embroidery are:
We will describe how to display embroidery by framing it into the picture frame.
Once you have completed your artwork and ready to display – iron it properly. You do not want wrinkles on your masterpiece, do you? Heat the iron to the lowest settings that are compatible with your garment. Then flip backward your embroidery stitch piece on the ironing board.
Start ironing to smooth the fabric piece. If your embroidery is on linen with the cotton blend – use medium heat iron with steam.
There are so many styles and flavors of frames you can choose to display your embroidery piece. You can pick a metal or wooden frame which is big enough to hold your design.
Once you have selected, take the back off of the frame and lift out the backing. Leave the glass to the frame – if you find glass unclear, clean it for flawless display.
Place the embroidery piece at the center of the frame backing board. Thread your needle with at least twelve inches of sturdy cotton thread.
Thread it properly and tie a knot at the end of the thread, so it is all okay to start. Set the embroidery on the center of the frame backing. Hold the sides and flip back the embroidery over.
Now you are not stitching the fabric into the embroidery hoop, so you have to keep the fabric stretched in another way. Take the threaded needle and push it through the material on one of the long edges near the corners at the backing.
Bring the needle to the edge and sew into it. Afterward, sew back in diagonal format for around half inches (it is about 1.3 cm) from the starting place. It will create a zig-zag pattern and locks the thread laces to provide the required tension.
Once you are done with the zig-zag pattern on long edges, move toward the short edges. For this:
Tuck the short ends of the fabric toward the center of the frame backing. Sew in a zig-zag pattern once again between the two corners. Tie the thread and cut it off once done.
Once it is done now put back the backing into the frame and secure it firmly with the clasps, make sure it is closed perfectly, or the support will fall out.
Ta-Da! Your embroidery is framed. Now you can place it on the side tables or hang it on the walls. If there is a group of frame embroideries, artistically turn them to create an attractive format.
