1. Honesty Is the Best Policy

It is important that you are 100% honest with your partner at all times in order to never lose trust. Not only do you have to be honest with your partner, but you also have to be honest with yourself. If you ever find yourself making a mistake or an error, you want to be honest enough to acknowledge and accept it.

You also want to be as open as possible about your feelings with your partner. For example, if something your boyfriend does, bothers you instead of changing your boyfriends behavior, be open and speak about how it impacts you without making accusations.

2. Be Yourself

The last thing you want to do is create a fake persona in order to impress your partner. If they want to date you, there is no reason to try to change how you are. After all, they chose you for a reason.

Keep in mind that if the reason you are trying to change yourself is that they insist that you could be prettier, thinner, quieter, etc then this means that you are probably not compatible and they are looking for something else in a partner.

3. Take Interest

It is great to take interest in what your boyfriend likes to do and what they like to talk about. You do not have to fake it and act like you love their hobbies but you want to understand why they love that hobby. When you accept what your partner likes, you will learn more about how you are as a person and whether or not you can see yourself spending more years with this person.

4. Compromising Is Important

Learning how to compromise instead of fighting or being angry when you do not get your way is key to a healthy relationship. You both want to rationally and calmly discuss any situation that arises and see what the other person’s perspective is. Instead of blindly focusing on what you think you need or want, try to understand where they are coming from.
