Aron Govil on the Challenges of Writing a Book

A native of  India who came to the United States as a young child, Aron Govil is the chief executive officer of the Ducon Group in New York City. This position places him in charge of a diverse portfolio of companies that span a variety of business sectors and industries. Govil has also spearheaded a number of large-scale news and entertainment projects, including the extraordinarily difficult process of conceiving, writing, and publishing a book under the pen name Arun K. Govil.

Aron Govil’s Diverse Creative Ventures

In addition to his vast administrative and entrepreneurial accomplishments in business areas that relate to Power industry construction and engineering, lifelong cinephile Aron Govil has produced several major feature-length motion pictures in both the Bollywood and Hollywood systems. His film production credits include the Cross-Border dramas based on true events in London; Shoot on Sight and a heart touching story about an orphan boy: Care of Footpath. He also produced, wrote, and directed the Bollywood musical romance:  U R My Jaan.

Govil’s latest film project, Robber’s Roost, is another Hollywood drama  in the English language. Currently in production, this mysterious thriller stars famous, award-winning, Hollywood actor Margot Kidder in the central role of “The Woman.”

In recent years, Aron Govil has expanded his writing abilities and turned his creative attention to the word of book publication. Although he didn’t grow up with a desire to write and can point to no specific books that provided him inspiration, he feels that his innate imagination and considerable motion picture career gave him firm foundation for success as an author.

“I always have had a creative nature since I have produced and directed several successful feature Bollywood films,” says Govil. “And from those moments, I knew it was only a matter of time before I published my book.”

Overcoming All Obstacles to Create a Successful Book

According to Aron Govil the long and arduous journey to a final published book begins not with writing but with reading. “One habit that contributed the most to becoming a writer was my ability to read from different sources and keep up with the information,” he says.

Before typing a single word, it is important to know that even the shortest and simplest of books will require a tremendous amount of time and dedication. Begin by defining the focus of the book and imagining the final shape that it will take. Aron Govil recommends planning your writing project well in advance, asking questions such as “what do I hope to achieve by writing this book, and for whom I am writing this book?”

Effective and efficient writers of all types will keep these “big picture” guidelines foremost in mind through every stage of the writing process. Although it may be daunting, they must continually judge their work, inquiring “why will a reader buy my book instead of another similar book?” and making sure that each sentence, paragraph, and page meets your goals specifically and reflects your viewpoint entirely.

These stringent standards must be met at every stage of the writing process from initial brainstorming to rewriting, revision, and final proofreading. Furthermore, writers must protect the core vision of their books throughout the highly precarious publishing process.
