The company studied the amount of Twitter traffic during the months following Trump’s Twitter ban. They found that daily use of Twitter in the United States has remained roughly the same since Trump’s ban, and that a huge portion of potential users are continuing to use it despite his absence.

According to NewsWhip, Twitter’s user base in the United States has remained at about 17.5% since Trump was banned from Twitter. They also found that 72% of Trump supporters had not used second-place platform Facebook since his ban, with numbers that large potentially spelling trouble for Facebook if they plan to continue targeting ads at Trump supporters.

The data also shows that while President Trump is no longer banned from Twitter, 19% of his followers are still not utilizing the company’s service. Since many of them are presumably Trump supporters, this could mean trouble for Twitter in the future.

This data is supported by a report that was released just this month by Edison Research and Triton Digital, showing that Twitter had increased their share of total social media traffic by about 3% in the first quarter of 2017. That number is up from 2% back in the first quarter of 2016, but it is a significantly smaller jump than Facebook’s, which saw an increase from 12% to 22% during that same time period.

Other than the NewsWhip study, the data also comes from Trump’s Twitter account itself. There is a significant chance that many of his followers simply use other social media services, but some of them may have been counted by the NewsWhip study as well.

However, it’s also worth pointing out that more than 90 million people watched President Trump’s inauguration on television, and that means that there is a huge group of young people who aren’t even on social media yet. It’s also worth noting that President Trump’s Twitter account remains the most popular in the world despite being suspended, so it’s probably a safe bet to assume that his followers will continue using social media.

The information seems to be pretty clear: a good number of Trump supporters aren’t using other platforms. They’re sticking with Twitter despite its best efforts to get them to leave. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future since Trump remains one of the most popular people on Twitter.
