40m Series 46msawersventurebeat: SoundCommerce, whose service analyzes retailers’ data across sources such as GCP, Snowflake, AWS, Tableau, Azure, Looker, and Power BI before delivering recommended marketing tactics to them raises $15M Series A.

Edison Partners led the round with participation from Sound Commerce’s existing investors. Other participating investors include Cloud9 Capital Partners and Thomson Reuters Venture Capital.

The company intends to use the capital to scale, accelerate product development and enter new markets. In addition, the funds will help SoundCommerce further integrate its analytics platform with leading market data platforms including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Snowflake and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

SoundCommerce was founded in 2014 by three retail veterans A.J. Abbate, Joe Levy and Faisal Butt, to help retailers harness the massive amounts of data they collect from sources such as Amazon, Facebook, eBay and more. The company was named after the sound of a cash register.

In November 2016, the company raised $10M in seed funding, led by General Catalyst’s Chris Fralic and Cloud9 Capital Partners. That round also included participation from Bloomberg Beta, General Catalyst, and JMA Ventures as well as other investors such as KPCB and Cloud9 Capital Partners. On December 19th the company was one of 12 startups selected by Google to work on its Wave initiative.

In March 2017, the company raised $2.5 million in seed funding led by London-based accelerator Cloud9 Capital Partners and Insight Venture Partners. In June of the same year, Edison Partners invested in the company.

On September 10th, SoundCommerce announced that it launched its free version of the product to stores and retailers that want to test out a new service for more one-on-one marketing recommendations from experts.

The cloud-based service gives retailers, including small to mid-sized businesses, access to a team of data scientists and marketing experts to analyze customer and operational data from one or many sources. The platform then recommends actionable marketing tactics for the retailer or brand.

With e-commerce and the emergence of brands on social media, traditional retail sales are decreasing. SoundCommerce provides a comprehensive view of a retailer’s customers to help optimize marketing efforts and bolster the bottom line.

The service allows retailers and brands to access millions of products from multiple retailers through a unified interface. Retailers can access their data on the platform in real-time, allowing them to make more informed decisions about what goes out onto store shelves or digital platforms. This real-time access to sales, inventory and customer data allows for a more comprehensive marketing strategy across multiple channels.

SoundCommerce provides cross-channel analytics for retailers. The platform offers visibility into the entire customer journey, from website to physical store locations. Additionally, it provides recommendations on social media content to post at different stages of the purchase cycle and realizes when digital content is performing below expectations so that brands can improve those strategies using the data given.
